The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), also known simply as “The G“, is an Australian sports stadium located in Yarra Park, Melbourne, and is home to the Melbourne Cricket Club.
It is the 10th-largest stadium in the world, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, and has the tallest light towers of any sporting venue.
Hosting major sporting events for football, cricket, rugby and rugby league, the MCG is also home to the National Sports Museum featuring memorabilia across a multitude of sports. Open every day 10 am to 5 pm.
Guided tours of the MCG and behind the scenes are available each day between 10 am and 3 pm
The MCG is within walking distance of the city centre and is served by the Richmond railway station, Richmond, and the Jolimont railway station, East Melbourne. It is part of the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct.
